ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS. 

 

The Corporate Transparency Act (“CTA”) is a new law that went into effect on January 1, 2024. In summary, the CTA was enacted to combat illicit activity including tax fraud, money laundering, and financing for terrorism by capturing specific ownership information for U.S. businesses that meet certain criteria. Under the CTA, such businesses must submit a Beneficial Ownership Information (“BOI”) Report to the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (“FinCEN”), providing details identifying individuals who are associated with the reporting company.

 

THERE ARE SPECIFIC DEADLINES THAT MUST BE MET. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE CTA MAY RESULT IN CIVIL OR CRIMINAL PENALTIES.
