Comcast RISE Offering $10,000 Grants to Small, Minority-Owned Businesses in Miami-Dade, Broward

Recently, small businesses have been dealing with the ongoing impact of the pandemic, social unrest, and environmental events. Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC)-owned small businesses have been some of the hardest hit.

According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, between February and April 2020, the number of active Black-owned businesses declined by 41%, Latinx-owned businesses declined by 32%, and Asian-owned businesses dropped by 25%, versus just 21% for the general population. Hispanics are considered “People of Color”.

Comcast RISE in an initiative aimed at empowering small, minority-owned businesses amid the pandemic, will be offering $10,000 grants to eligible businesses in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Comcast RISE Investment Fund will be committing $1 Million in grants.

In order to qualify for the grant, small businesses must have one to 25 employees, have established business operations for at least three years, and be located in one of the aforementioned geographical areas.

Applications are open from October 1st through October 14th, 2021.
